Support Yemen War Powers Resolution: Call Congress Now!

Since its start over seven years ago, the war in Yemen has turned into a humanitarian disaster. U.S. military support for the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen has only perpetuated the crisis, with over 17 million people currently on the brink of famine. Despite President Biden’s early signals of de-escalation, the US has continued support for the war via maintenance of warplanes and intelligence-sharing for airstrikes, as well as by enforcing a devastating air and sea blockade.
A War Powers Resolution to stop U.S. support for the war in Yemen (# HJ Res 87) has just now been introduced by Reps. Jayapal and DeFazio. NY Reps. Bowman, Espaillat, Jones, Nadler (!) and Tonko are co-sponsors, but Brooklyn reps Clarke, Jeffries, Malliotakis, Maloney, and Velazquez are missing. We need all of our Brooklyn reps to sign on and support this important resolution!
Please use this tool from Peace Action New York State to reach out to your representative, urging them to sign on as a co-sponsor.

Here’s a script: “I’m calling to urge ____to publicly support the War Powers Resolution to end U.S. participation in the Saudi-led war on Yemen. Congress has never authorized participation and its impact on the Yemeni people has been devastating.
The war has led to the deaths of almost 400,000 Yemenis and many continue to experience the threat of famine. Congress must act. I hope _____ will join the effort for peace by supporting a Yemen War Powers Resolution.”
