Solidarity with Haiti: End Deportations to Haiti Now!
On Saturday, August 14th the people of Ayiti/Haiti experienced another devastating earthquake that has left more than 1,200 dead and hundreds of thousands injured. The current death toll is over 2200, with over 300 still missing (See Democracy Now! 8/25/2021)
The people of Ayiti deserve our solidarity and support at this time. Visit m4bl.link/haiti for a list prepared by Movement for Black Lives of trusted comrades and organizations either based in Ayiti or connected with Ayiti with deep roots and integrity. Please prioritize supporting these organizations, particularly those based in Brooklyn (Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees).
Meanwhile, a coalition of over 300 organizations is calling on the Biden administration to stop all deportations to Haiti, and to expand relief to Haitian migrants. Please call your Congressional representative, and NY Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, asking that they back this call. (Cong. Switchboard: 202-224-3121). (Read full text of the letter here.)
