Restore the “Iran Nuclear Deal”: Help Stop a War with Iran

Negotiations for the United States to rejoin the Iran Nuclear Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), are ongoing. The outcome is unclear. It’s imperative that people call President Biden and demand that he keep his campaign promise to rejoin the Iran Nuclear Deal. (See webinar: How You Can Help Stop a War with Iran.)
Call the White House 202-456-1111 or send an email:
Emphasize three main points:
- The JCPOA worked well and can do so again;
- “Maximum Pressure” has failed.
- Diplomacy is the only way.
Here’s a script; modify as you wish.
” Hello, I’m______________ I live in and work at ____________. I’m a member of Brooklyn For Peace and___________.
Returning to the JCPOA is the only credible and proven path for your administration to reverse Trump’s failed “Maximum Pressure” policy and ease the crushing sanctions on the Iranian people. It is the only way to restore long-lasting constraints on Iran’s nuclear policy and ultimately to avoid war.
The JCPOA worked well before and it can work again, whereas leaving the deal and increasing the sanctions have failed to curb Iran enrichment and centrifuges. Diplomacy is the only answer.
We are counting on President Biden to keep his campaign promise to rejoin the Iran Nuclear Deal.”
Also, call Senators Schumer and Gillibrand! They recently voted the wrong way on a non-binding Senate measure which aims to uphold some of Trump’s failed policies toward Iran. It does not move us closer to a successful diplomatic agreement on halting Iran’s nuclear program, and could make negotiations more difficult. Please call their offices to let them know you’re paying attention and are very disappointed in their vote. Leave a message if you don’t get through, especially on the weekend.
