Weds, March 11, 6:30 PM: Rolling Back the Trillion Dollar War Machine With William Hartung, Moderated by Indigo Olivier

March 11 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Join Brooklyn For Peace for a discussion of Bill Hartung and Ben Freeman’s new book, which traces the growth of the military-industrial complex since Eisenhower warned of it over six decades ago. The conversation will examine the many tools of influence that sustain runaway military spending and, importantly, what it would take to build enough people power to roll it back.
William Hartung focuses on the arms industry and US military budget. He was previously the director of the Arms and Security Program at the Center for International Policy and the co-director of the Center’s Sustainable Defense Task Force. Bill previously directed programs at the New America Foundation and the World Policy Institute. He also worked as a speechwriter and policy analyst for New York State Attorney General Robert Abrams.
Indigo Olivier, a reporter-researcher for The New Republic and a investigative reporting fellow with In These Times. Her writing on politics, labor and higher education has appeared in the Guardian, The Nation and Jacobin, among other outlets.
