WED: No Tech for Israeli Apartheid! Rally

July 26, 2023 @ 12:30 PM

Demand No Tech For Apartheid at NYC Amazon Web Services Summit

On July 26th, Amazon Web Services will hold its annual summit in New York City, bringing thousands of “cloud enthusiasts” to the Javits Center for a day of “learning, networking, and collaboration.” But Amazon’s technology isn’t being used to bring people together—it’s forcing communities apart and entrenching state violence, occupation, and land grabs.

It’s been two years since Amazon and Google signed the “Project Nimbus” contract with the Israeli government and military. In a historic collaboration, workers at Amazon and Google have been organizing collectively to get their bosses to drop Project Nimbus and pledge #NoTechForApartheid.

This past May marked 75 years since the expulsion of Palestinians from their land, an event often referred to as “the Nakba,” or “catastrophe” in Arabic. Just this month the Israeli military waged an unprecedented assault on Jenin, murdering 12 people.  The Nakba continues — and companies like Amazon must stop enabling the injustice and violence that began with the Nakba and that Palestinians continue to face to this day.

Amazon and Google workers are publicly drawing the connection between what we saw in Jenin, the Nakba, and the Amazon/Google contracts that power apartheid. That’s why tech workers and community will rally outside the AWS Summit next week — one of Amazon’s biggest business events of 2023 — to demand Amazon stop profiting off of violence against Palestinians now or continue to face a public relations and labor crisis.

Join Amazon tech workers, community activists, and other MPower Change members at this critical campaign moment.  Show support for Amazon tech workers willing to speak out and say #NoTechForApartheid and interrupt business as usual for Amazon on one of their biggest days of the year.

Not in NYC? Take action here.
