A rally organized by The Shut It Down For Palestine Coalition has called for a National Mobilization to the Capitol to protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to travel to the US and address Congress. “People Charge Benjamin Netanyahu with Genocide! When War Criminal Netanyahu comes to Washington DC on July 24, we will mobilize and issue a notice of a citizen’s arrest.”
Conveners include Al-Awda (Palestinian Right to Return Coalition), American Muslims for Palestine, CodePINK, Jewish Voice for Peace, The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, and many more. The mobilization is also endorsed by Brooklyn For Peace. Buses organized by ANSWER Coalition.

Netanyahu was invited by Congressional leaders, including by New York Senator Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, representing the 8th Congressional District.

The Coalition plans to issue a citizen’s arrest notice for Netanyahu, for Crimes against Humanity. The war in Gaza, prosecuted by the Israeli PM, has murdered close to 40,000 Palestinians and likely over 4 times that number, according to the British medical journal The Lancet. In January the International Court of Justice (ICJ) provided an initial ruling on a case brought by South Africa that Israel is plausibly committing genocide.
