The Doomsday Machine: Nuclear Weapons Past and Future

Speaker: Daniel Ellsberg, American Economist, Former U.S. Military Analyst, and Political Activist. Daniel Ellsberg was a whistleblower who released copies of the Pentagon Papers to the press in 1971–dramatically raising opposition to the Vietnam War and contributing to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Ellsberg’s most recent book, The Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner, considers the dangers of deploying (and potentially using) nuclear weapons. He will address the increasing U.S. tensions with Russia and China.
