MON: Shades of Disarmament – Film Festival!

July 24, 2023 @ 6:30 PM

Join Reverse the Trend and its partners to screen excerpts of three films that address the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons and the nuclear disarmament movement. The film screenings will be followed by a panel discussion and light refreshments.

“The Vow From Hiroshima” is an intimate portrait of Setsuko Thurlow, a passionate survivor of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. “In Our Hands” is an uplifting documentary, interweaving performers, individual marchers and down-to-earth scenes of the massive gathering when one million people with one voice called for an end to the nuclear arms race.
“On the Morning You Wake” uses innovative documentary storytelling and virtual production techniques to viscerally recreate the lived experiences of people who, for 38 minutes, had to react and make impossible decisions in the face of nuclear violence.
“Shades of Disarmament” is an original short documentary produced by Reverse the Trend and its supporters highlighting activists of color who were present at the 1982 Rally on Nuclear Disarmament and whose views were often ignored. The film will shed light on the intersectional relationship between the struggles for environmental justice, social justice, and human rights.

At Reverse the Trend, we use art and education as agents of change. Our work sheds light on the intersectional relationship between the struggles for environmental justice, social justice, and human rights.
