Global Day of Action to Stop the War in Ukraine
Join us on Saturday April 9 in a Global Day of Action to Stop the War in Ukraine:
Ceasefire and Negotiated Settlement Now, Russian Troops Out, No NATO Expansion

We must address the role our country has had and is currently playing in exacerbating the conflict. See BFP Statement on Ukraine, Russia, and NATO. Russia as well as Ukraine should be investigated for war crimes. However, the U.S. has no credibility to call for such investigations, given he U.S. crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, U.S. support for Israeli and Saudi war crimes, and the fact that the U.S. is not even a member of the International Criminal Court. It has been less than two years since the U.S. put sanctions on ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda and senior ICC prosecution official Phakiso Mochochoko, and restricted visas to individuals “involved in the ICC’s efforts to investigate US personnel.”
Actions you can take:
Sign open letter in solidarity with Russian Anti-war Activists
Keep calling Congress! As this war becomes “old news”, they need to know that we’re still paying attention. US diplomatic weight needs to push for cease-fire and negotiations to end the war. Resources should go to humanitarian aid for refugees, from Ukraine as well as elsewhere, not to pouring in more weapons and supporting the military-industrial complex.
Call Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, and your Representative.
Congressional Switchboard: 202-224-3121
Write letters to the editor of our local papers. Join “Writers for CODEPINK Congress” for encouragement and support in writing letters to the editor. Email marcy@codepink.org to get connected, and email us at bfp@brooklynpeace.org for list of local publications.
If you missed our recent Forum with Phyllis Bennis and Joseph Gerson on “Russian Invasion of Ukraine and US Policy: Challenges for the Peace Movement,” see the recording here. (Please subscribe to BFP’s YouTube channel while you’re there!)
Also take the time to watch:
“A Negotiated Settlement of the Russia/Ukraine Conflict?” with Anatol Lieven. Speaking from Britain, Lieven had many insights about the war, the status of negotiations, and the need for the U.S. to support a negotiated settlement of the war rather than encouraging the battles to be fought to the last Ukrainian.
