THURS. – End the War in Ukraine: Discussion Series and Action Ideas
July 14, 2022 @ 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Weekly series on Thursdays at 6:00 pm, except for 7/7/22.
Wondering how we can respond to the war in Ukraine? Do you have ideas for action? Don’t be alone.
- The mainstream media and our government would have us believe that the only response to the crisis is to arm Ukraine and devastate Russia. The risks of this approach are great, up to and including nuclear war.
- This discussion series will use alternative online video resources featuring experts and peace activists to better understand the conflict, stimulate dialogue, and create action steps for how to respond.
- Discussion will be moderated with individual comments limited to 3 minutes.
For the session, attendees are encouraged to watch an excerpt from a discussion held by scholars at the Institute of Policy Studies, Phyllis Bennis, Khury Peterson-Smith and John Feffer. The discussion shows some of the range of opinions on the best way to pursue peace and justice in Ukraine and beyond, even among people who have a left-wing and antiwar perspective. We welcome people with different perspectives to participate respectfully.
Sponsored by the Syracuse Peace Council and the Syracuse Democratic Socialists of America.
