2021 PathMakers to Peace honors: Wynton Marsalis
November 18 @ 6:30 PM – 8:15 PM
In previous years we have presented the award at a gala dinner where members, guests, and the recipients of the award join us for an evening of great food, music and conversation. Because of the COVID-19 we did not hold the award gala in 2020, but this year we are happy to announce that we are holding a virtual 2021 Gala.
The PathMakers to Peace award was established in 2013, to honor organizations and individuals who have played a leadership role in working to find non-violent resolutions to conflict. The name of our award, PathMakers to Peace, emphasizes that there are many roads to reaching the goal of a peaceful and just world.
This year’s 2021 PathMakers to Peace award will be a virtual event and our honoree is trumpeter, composer, teacher and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Wynton Marsalis.
Join us in this celebration of acknowledging Mr. Marsalis timely January 2021 recording, The Democracy! Suite. We hope that you will take advantage of this virtual event, a truly unique opportunity to hear remarks from Wynton Marsalis via an exclusive pre-recorded interview as well as insightful commentary on Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet’s performance of three selections from the Album.
There will be pre-event mood set at 6:30 PM, with music and mocktails. Stay posted as we will have two drink specialties recipes (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) that you can make to join in the fun.
We encourage you to visit his website to hear all of the marvelous and powerful recordings as well as drink in this legendary artists life and career.
We need your support now more than ever. This fundraising event is the kickoff of our major campaign – The Road to Sustaining the Future of Brooklyn For Peace. In addition to purchasing your own ticket for this unique PathMakers to Peace Virtual Gala, you can also express your support by placing an ad or becoming a sponsor in our virtual journal, and encouraging your friends to do so as well.
