Diplomacy Needed to End Ukraine War:
YOUR Phone Call Is Important!

Call To Action, News, Peace Activism, Peace and Economic Justice, Phone Calls

Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) has recently drafted a Congressional sign-on letter to President Biden calling on the President to take crucial steps to help bring an end to this war. Rather than simply sending more weapons, these steps include: making vigorous diplomatic efforts in support of a negotiated settlement and ceasefire; engaging in direct talks with Russia; exploring prospects for a new European security arrangement acceptable to all parties that will allow for a sovereign and independent Ukraine; and, in coordination with Ukraine, seeking a rapid end to the conflict, and reiterating this goal as America’s number one priority.

YOUR phone call is Important!

This letter is the first time that there has been a coordinated public effort in Congress to encourage diplomacy rather than more money for weapons. We need to make sure this letter has broad and deep support from Congress. It’s the U.S.’s responsibility to pursue every diplomatic avenue to support an end to this war before more lives are lost unnecessarily.  The steps outlined in Jayapal’s letter to President Biden are those that the U.S. should be pursuing. In the Brooklyn delegation so far only Nydia Velazquez has signed on as a co-sponsor.

Please take this important action today:
Call or
send a letter to the office of your representative, and ask that they sign on to the Jayapal letter.
Yvette Clarke: 718-287-1142
Hakeem Jeffries: 718-237-2211
Nicole Malliotakis: 718-306-1620
Carolyn Maloney: 212-860-0606
Jerry Nadler: 212-367-7350

If Nydia Velazquez represents you, call to thank her, and ask that she encourage her colleagues to sign on as well.
Velazquez: 718-599-3658

Your phone call is the most effective action you can take, and shows how important this issue is to you. Leave a message if you don’t get someone on the phone, or if it’s in the evening or on the weekend. You can also use this tool from Peace Action to send an email message to your representative.

It's overdue for the US government to take concrete action to address Israel’s continuous human rights violations against Palestinians.
Urge your Members of Congress now to join @RepBowman & @SenSanders' letter on Palestinian rights. TAKE ACTION: http://bit.ly/BowmanSandersLetter
