Women in Black Vigil

Express your outrage at the continuing siege as well as the U.S. policy toward Israel-Palestine that allows the blockade to continue. Israel will not permit Gazans to import glass to repair the windows shattered by their bombardment, so schoolchildren must sit in windowless schools in winter.

Both women and men are welcome to participate.

Every Thursday
5:30–6:30 pm, weather permitting

Union Square
(on the little traffic island at 14th St & Broadway, Manhattan)

Vigil has been continuous in this location since 2001. Its participants are of diverse backgrounds and nationalities including 3 Israelis. The Women in Black Vigil began in 1988, has spread to 32 locations in Israel (where it began) and to 150 countries, on all continuents.

Note: Vigil is not held in case of severely inclement weather (if weather forecast by 2:00 pm is more than 75% chance of precipitation.) Also, Vigil is not held when falls on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, the first night of Passover or major national holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).
