Peace shone bright and beautiful in Brooklyn on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Seventh Annual Brooklyn Peace Fair, hosted by Brooklyn For Peace. Hundreds flocked to the Brooklyn College Center at that campus in Flatbush to partake in forums, listen to music, discuss the issues and talk about building a stronger and more popular movement to end the wars and fight for new priorities: money for jobs, schools, health care, affordable housing NOT for endless wars! Ceasefire in Libya, Humanitarian Intervention at Home

Brooklyn For Peace strongly opposed military intervention in Libya before the UN Security Council passed Resolution 1973 on March 17, 2011. Notwithstanding that we deplore the Qaddafi regime and its armed attacks on what was originally a peaceful opposition, we defend the opposition’s right to protest the current government and seek an alternative. Condemn Repression in Bahrain

We strongly condemn the Bahrain government, which has used brutal military force to suppress legitimate, peaceful protest. The Shi’a majority and many Sunnis are demanding democratic, seculf reforms and equal treatment in politics and the econony. Continue reading

Living Wage Bill Campaign

The Living Wage bill, which concerns retail sector jobs and is directed at corporations receiving NYC subsidies, is gaining ground in the City Council!
Council Speaker Quinn held a hearing about the bill on Thursday May 12, 2011.
Brooklyn For Peace has endorsed this campaign.
