If you can, join the Women’s March on Washington a gigantic rally that says NO to the impending Trump/GOP agenda of war, cutbacks to social services, repression and attacks on immigrants, women and people of color.

In a statement to supporters, BFP Chair, Charlotte Phillips, M.D., called on people to turn out in large numbers.

“The Women’s March on Washington is a historic opportunity to defend women’s rights and democracy. This is only the beginning of the fight back against Trump and the GOP Congress. There will be many actions and activities over the next few years to make sure that Trump does not turn our country back to earlier times and undo the progress we’ve made over the years. However, it’s important to make this first demonstration a particularly large and successful one to demonstrate that the majority of Americans did not vote for Trump or his proposals and that he, despite his claims, has no mandate for his reactionary plans.

“Brooklyn For Peace urges its members and supporters to either make their way to Washington on Saturday, January 21st or to join us in protesting right here in New York city where a “sister” demonstration has been called (as well as in many cities throughout the country). Phillips continued, “We invite you to march with your fellow Brooklynites. We are meeting Saturday, January 21st at 10:30 am at Brooklyn’s Borough Hall which is located at Court and Joralemon Streets to take the subway together to the rally in Manhattan which begins at 11:00 am at Hammarskjold Plaza. We will have signs and banners—so please join us!”
